Ad hoc research

When the question does not fit an existing format, we design an ad hoc study. Message recall, copy testing, KOL mapping, advisory boards, pricing studies and real-world evidence, with the same methodological control as the rest of the portfolio.

When to use it

When the question is specific and the clock is running

Most of these projects come from a decision with a date attached: a committee next week, a campaign awaiting approval, a competitor that just moved. The design adapts to the time available without giving up on declaring its limits.

  • Does my promotional material communicate what I think it communicates?

  • Who are the opinion leaders that actually move practice in this indication?

  • At what price does my product stop being acceptable to the prescriber?

  • What is happening in real practice with my product after launch?

Frequent formats

What we are asked for most

  1. Format

    Message recall and copy testing

Testing promotional material before investing: what is recalled, what is understood and what is believed after exposure.

  2. Format

    KOL mapping

Identification and ranking of opinion leaders by real influence on practice, not by public visibility.

  3. Format

    Advisory boards

Design, moderation and reporting of specialist sessions, with a consensus document and dissent recorded.

  4. Format

    Price sensitivity and elasticity

Price sensitivity and elasticity studies, and real-world evidence on use, adherence and outcomes in everyday practice.

  5. Format

    Qualitative sessions

Focus groups, triads, dyads and in-depth interviews with a professional moderator, a documented guide and a report with traceable verbatims.

Any ad hoc design enters with the same discipline: declared sample, documented instrument, field audit and limitations written into the report.

Deliverables

What you receive

  • Protocol

Document with objective, design, sample, instrument and analysis criteria, approved by you before field starts.

  • Findings report

Result with a business reading and an explicit recommendation, in the format your organisation uses to decide.

  • Field material

Instruments, moderation guides and stimulus material, delivered for traceability and replication.

  • Data or transcript report

Anonymised microdata in quantitative studies; write-up and verbatims in qualitative ones.

Frequently asked

What clients usually ask

How long does a proposal take?
We send design, sample, timing and price within 48 business hours of understanding the business question.
Is there a minimum project size?
We set no minimum. We have run everything from a single advisory board session to multi-country programmes; the criterion is whether the design can answer the question.
Do you work under confidentiality?
Always. We sign an NDA before receiving any product or strategy information.
Can you take over a study started by another vendor?
Yes, after auditing what was collected. If data quality does not support a conclusion, we say so before invoicing the continuation.
